Our Mission
Who We Are
We are a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable animal welfare organization supported solely by our programs and services, as well as donations, private grants and fundraising events. We offer programs and services to educate, inform, and inspire people to take responsible care of their pets and treat animals with the kindness they deserve. With the support of people across the county, we are helping to create a better community for all.
Our History
As the oldest animal welfare organization in Brevard, the Brevard Humane Society often transforms the way rescue organizations care for animals and engage with their communities. In an effort to support their mission of ending the cycle of pet overpopulation, the Brevard Humane Society opened a Spay and Neuter Clinic which provides low cost services in addition to vaccinations, wellness checks, and other affordable healthcare options to area residents.
More importantly, an extension of the Brevard Humane Society’s low-cost clinic ensures compassionate services and support are available through every stage of an animal’s life. The understanding staff of Heavenly Paws Chapel will assist families in selecting the best possible services while providing comfort during the peaceful passing of a beloved pet.
The Brevard Humane Society’s progressive spay-neuter and adoption programs along with their dynamic humane educational efforts eventually led to the inception of the first Molly Mutt Thrift Shop. Today, the Brevard Humane Society operates four conveniently-located stores that provide financial support to the organization’s various awareness programs and services.
An important mission with humble beginnings, the Brevard Humane Society also strives to enrich the lives of people by joining them with animals who together form a loving and permanent relationship. The Brevard Humane Society has numerous loving, spayed / neutered, and vaccinated pets who are just waiting for their “furever” families. To adopt one of our animals simply visit one of our adoption facilities located at 1020 Cox Road in Cocoa or 155 Pioneer Road in Merritt Island or view them online.
