FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRING YOUR PETS TO THE BREVARD HUMANE SOCIETY’S ANNUAL BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

Brevard Humane Society invites the community to take part in a special pet blessing on Sunday, October 4th at 4:00 pm at the Brevard Humane Society’s Heavenly Paws Chapel, located directly behind their Cocoa Adoption Center, at 1020 Cox Road.

Now a beloved annual tradition for the Brevard Humane Society and the community, the “Blessing of the Animals” celebrates St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals. All faiths are welcome to attend the event, as are all pets. Spirit Riders M.C. will perform the blessings.

“Animals bring an incredible amount of joy and love to our lives and its only fitting that we take a moment to honor them. It’s an honor to be able to host this event for the 15th year,” said Executive Director of the Brevard Humane Society, Theresa Clifton.

There will be a short worship service, followed by light refreshments for the two-legged guests. Each four-legged guest will receive an individual blessing and a memento will be available to participants, while supplies last. A photographer will also be on hand to capture the evening’s participants and festivities which will be shared on the organization’s Facebook page at @BrevardHumaneSociety. For any pet(s) that may have passed or are too frightened or frail to attend, a photograph or special memory item (collar, leash, etc.) is all that is required to receive a blessing. Meanwhile, all animals that are in attendance must be kept on leashes or in carriers for the duration of the service. Due to COVID-19, all pet parents will also be required to wear masks as the Brevard Humane Society continues to do its part to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.
