FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE BREVARD HUMANE SOCIETY ENCOURAGES THE COMMUNITY TO HELP “CLEAR THE SHELTERS” ON AUGUST 17TH

The Brevard Humane Society is proud to join animal rescues across the country in hosting NBC and Telemundo Stations’ Clear the Shelters™ Day. This year’s event will be held Saturday, August 17th, from 11:00am to 5:00pm and adoptive families will enjoy food trucks, free samples, raffles, and coupons for pet care related products and services.

“Our 2018 campaign was a huge success. We are so grateful to all the families who will open their hearts to a new pet again this year during our Clear the Shelters event”, said Executive Director of the Brevard Humane Society, Theresa Clifton. “Watching these animals leave with their new families is always really emotional for those of us who work with them, so we just can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to NBC and Telemundo for continuing to give their time and talent to help homeless pets find loving homes to call their own.”

Last year, over twenty (20) animals were adopted through the organization’s 2018 Clear the Shelters™ campaign including several dogs rescued from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma impacted the island. The Brevard Humane Society hopes to keep the momentum going again this year by offering reduced adoption fees on all animals and $10 off microchips. All available and adoptable animals will have been spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, and been treated with flea and tick prevention medications.

Since 2015, over 250,000 pets have been rescued as part of the national Clear the Shelter™ initiative. Those looking to add a new member to their family, are strongly encouraged to visit the Brevard Humane Society on August 17th at either their Cocoa Adoption Center located at 1020 Cox Road or their Merritt Island Adoption Center at 155 Pioneer Road.
