FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Brevard Humane Society is pleased to announce it has expanded its adoption capabilities through a new and rewarding partnership with Pet Supermarket. The non-profit and leader in animal welfare, will now feature adoptable cats and kittens at local Pet Supermarket locations across the County.
“We are so fortunate and honored to be working with Pet Supermarket to help address the problem of pet homelessness,” said Theresa Clifton, Executive Director of the Brevard Humane Society. “Unfortunately, many of the cats that enter our Centers each year come to us as strays or unplanned litters which can prove to be a challenge. The ability to expand our adoption efforts and outreach not only supports our lifesaving mission, but also furthers our ability to save as many lives as possible.”
The Brevard Humane Society began teaming with Pet Supermarket earlier this month to showcase adoptable cats at their Palm Bay, Melbourne, and Merritt Island pet supply locations and over ten (10) cats have successfully been adopted to date. One of the unique features of this cooperative program is that the cats displayed in each Pet Supermarket are not available for “sale” by the stores themselves. Rather, each store is generously providing free housing and care for each of the cats who would otherwise reside at the Brevard Humane Society’s Merritt Island or Cocoa Adoption Center. While all applications are still reviewed and approved by the Brevard Humane Society, a potential in-store adopter may fill out the application and, once approved, pay the adoption fee and leave the store with their new pet. The adoption fees for each cat will directly benefit the Brevard Humane Society to help assist with the care of more homeless animals.
