All creatures, great and small, from guinea pigs and gerbils to cats and dogs, are invited to take part in a special pet blessing on Wednesday, October 4th starting at 5:30pm at the Brevard Humane Society’s Heavenly Paws Chapel, located directly behind their Cocoa Adoption Center, at 1020 Cox Road. Blessings will be performed by the Padre of Spirit Riders Ministries.
The “Blessing of the Animals” which celebrates St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of all creatures great and small, has become a beloved annual tradition for the Brevard Humane Society and the community alike. Over the years, quite an interesting array of animals, in all shapes and sizes, have attended the ceremony including ferrets, a horse, and a pot belly pig.
All pets, and their parents, are welcome. There will be a pet blessing ceremony, followed by refreshments compliments of Jersey Mike’s in Merritt Island, and a keepsake gift for those who attend.
