Run With The Big Dogs At Brevard Humane Society’s 2nd Annual “Mutt Strut” 5K

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS AT THE BREVARD HUMANE SOCIETY’S 2ND ANNUAL “MUTT STRUT 5K”

Stretch your paws at Gleason Park on Saturday, March 30th, as the fast and the “furriest” will run in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the Brevard Humane Society at the organization’s second annual Mutt Strut 5K in Indian Harbour Beach.

“Last year’s inaugural event was spectacular,” said Kimberly Newton, chair for the Brevard Humane Society’s board of directors, “It was one of the highlights of our year, seeing dogs and their families out enjoying the fun and fresh air. Unfortunately, according to the Association of Pet Obesity Prevention, over half the dogs in America are either overweight or obese, so we are thrilled to be able to engage with the community in this way and we look forward to another very successful race again this year.”

Last year more than 220 participants attended the Brevard Humane Society’s inaugural event which helped raise over $3,000 in the race to end pet homelessness.

The “Mutt Strut” is a family-friendly, group-friendly, and dog-friendly event so whether someone is an avid runner, a weekend jogger or simply enjoys walking, everyone is encouraged to join in the fun. Participants may either run/walk the scenic “Mutt Strut 5K”, trot lightly with the “Doggie Dash” 1 Miler, or partake in the ultimate competition of the “Double Dog Dare” Challenge. However, for the safety of all participants, pets must be current on all vaccinations, be in good health, and MUST be kept on a leash.

Registration is currently open and those who register by March 15, 2019 will receive an official race t-shirt. Discounted pre-registration is available until March 29th and prizes will be awarded for the top individuals including a special challenge medal for ALL “Double Dog Dare” Finishers. Participants may register individually or as a team in an effort to raise funds for the homeless animals of the Brevard Humane Society.
